Yesterday I was in church and the service was all about God’s message and how, in the days of early Egypt and Israel, His word got spread…sermons on the mount, preaching in temples, traditions and stories passed down from the generation to generation…Moses bringing the laws of God, written on two tablets, down from Mount Sinai.
It got me thinking about today…2011…what if God had access to the internet. What if He had a blog or made a video about His message, and with one left click on the word “publish” and the word of God would be out on the worldwide web for all the to see.
Would His word gain readers or viewers? Would he have a dedicated audience? Would people be interested in what he had to say? Do you think he could win awards, get a possible book deal, or as in the case of the Bieber, become an overnight mega star?
And…if God could get His word out through a website or blog, emails or text, video or maybe even by Skyping on Oprah…would He do it that way? I mean we live in an age where we are connected to almost everyone and anyone we have ever known, just by logging onto Facebook or any of the other social networks. Would God see that as a way to reach people with His word today?
I remember an old 1950’s movie called “The Next Voice you Hear” in which God spoke over the radio worldwide. At first people were frightened, but the listeners gradually began to realize that God simply wanted to convey the age-old message of “Love thy Neighbor.” With this realization came several changes of attitude, some minor, others profound. I think maybe that was the intent of the movie makers back then, to pose the scenario and answer the question…what if God spoke to us the way which we communicate in our present day, could it get modern day mans attention and would it make an impact?
